Keywords in Your SEO Strategy

Keywords are vital to your online success. Your goal is to organically (naturally) rank high in Google and in other search engines, so you need to implement certain SEO (search engine optimization) strategies, and keywords will play an important role in those.

When you conduct keyword research, you’re doing it to learn how your prospective customer is utilizing search engines to find the information or products that they want. You then take the words (and phrases) and use them on your site, to ensure it’s relevant for your target audience.

In the old days, keywords could be stuffed and hidden all over a website to trick search engines into helping a site rank high. Now that they’ve caught on, you have to use them with a more whitehat approach or risk getting de-indexed in Google and other search giants.

Where do your keywords generally need to be? Don’t discount Meta tags in your HTML code. These are still important, but they may not be the most important tactic to use anymore.

Keyword placement depends on what type of page you’re building. If it’s a web 2.0 property such as a Squidoo lens, Hub Page or Google Knol, then you want a keyword in the URL that you register, in the titles, subtitles and content that you write, and also in any tagging space they give you the opportunity to fill in.

If you’re making a blog post on your blog, then the keyword should be in the URL, too. But you may have to check to ensure that your blog template is using this strategy. Under settings and then permalinks, you’ll be able to set your preferences.

For instance, many blogs default to give your post a number like this: http://www.yourblogname.com/?p=123.  You’ll need to choose custom structure and enter this code: /%postname% – this will make your blog post URL appear with the title of the post, where your keywords will be, like this: http://www.yourblogname.com/title-of-blog-post

Use keywords within all of your content, especially the first paragraph and preferably in the first sentence, so that the initial snippet Google shows has your keyword included (it will appear bold if the person searching uses this exact keyword in their search).

Experts disagree about what density you have in regards to keywords. Some say 2% and others go as high as 10%. What you really need to do is write both human visitors and search engine spiders alike. That means enough keywords so that the searchbots see your content’s relevancy and not so many that it turns off your reader because it reads awkwardly.

I felt so trapped at times, like a tiger pacing up and down its cage. Ready see the cash roll in fast. Internet Marketing was my chosen vehicle. What I was really feeling was completely natural a circle of events that I can see a bit clearer now. So here is a bit of Wealthy Affiliate help for you

In my Previous life I was a T & D coach (training and development) helping you to plot what best Training, courses, strategies and roles to get you to where you wanted to be. Often my trainees would have an illusion that their goals were just a few months around the corner, when in-fact they were a couple of years away at best; So lets look at how you fair at the Affiliate university. Bare in mind, its my observation, but you may take out of it what you will.

I guess All of you here reading have aspirations especially if your looking to join WA (Wealthy Affiliate). I have to say it’s a foregone conclusion, and would not be an understatement. With that comes:

• An eagerness to Learn
• A willingness to work had
• Focus on your end objective
• Stamina to perform any task
• A can do attitude

If after a few weeks at WA, especially if your new to the business your ‘smacked in the face’ with reality , that has a very different feeling altogether. You feel more like a tabby cat on edge”. That looks like.

I cant create anything that will or can compete with the seniors here at Wealthy Affiliate.

I’m wasting time & money on trying stuff that’s not working.

There has to be an easier way of making money online!?

I must admit that I have seen the inside of that dark room a few times. Once you get there. It’s proper doom and gloom. It usually marks the end of the road for whatever was your end objective is.

Its so easy to shed a little light though. (This is where I go into T&D mode, sorry in advance)

- New knowledge comes at a price … One of the most valuable commodities there is YOUR TIME. We place such value our time that rarely do we dedicate enough of it to CHECKING our processes, or our own understanding of tasks and issues. A systematic approach to your learning curve is integral. A then B before C get it?

- Fail to prepare is to prepare to fail… I can’t stress enough that an action plan must be followed i.e. At wealthy affiliate, help is given in a 8week action plan, Stick to it…. SMART Goals.(That’s specific, measurable, achievable, relative to the objective & time-bound) have to be set. It’s not as easy as you think either. Often we tend to be far too unrealistic with our own capabilities. “bite size pieces” remember!

- Effort without results … = EXPERIENCE, not a waste of time! Be cognitive. (use what you’ve learnt from your failures) Remember is is a growth learning pattern. So many of us really do expect a ‘hole in one!’ … Some are pragmatic & just have to jump in head first, and others are more theorist and need to fully understand before implementation. Neither is better than the other, all that matters is that you are consistent and tenacious, you keep at it..do not be amazed when your first few attempts at WA fail you….

- The give yourself a fighting chance.… “A teenager can’t but will say they’re able to drive when they’ve only just realised that that pedal there makes you go faster! That’s not meant as slander towards any teenagers just an example that’s easy to comprehend… Point is when you have had little to no training but can the end result, then, what is a realistic time frame to succeed and to competency?

- Test yourself… A weekly de-brief is great. Set it in your ‘My WA’ tasks or on a to-do calendar is best. Then LIST and then LOOK at what you have learnt in week . It’s ONLY 0.01% improvement is all you need look for know that you have achieved. Get the knife out its bite size pieces remember… How long for you to eat that elephant? What’s at the end of that feast?

- The end does justify the means… Want to be earning better still generating 6 figures 3 years from now? or happy with 5!

We’ve heard it a thousand times, it is in the search engines best interest to highly rank websites that people will actually gain benefit from for the keywords.
